Sierra Nevada trail is one of the most popular hikes in Conguillio National Park. Hiking the Trail you can get spectacular views of the surrounding mountains as Sierra Nevada and Volcán Llaima (3.150 mts), the great lake Conguillio full of color during the southern hemisphere fall season and the exotic Araucaria trees forming lush forest on the mountains slope. The Araucaria ("monkey-puzzle tree") is the oldest arboreal species on the planet, a "living fossil". It originated more than 260 million years ago, so the first specimens of this tree coexisted with the Dinosaurs.
