Strawberry Pulque Pulque is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant. It is traditional to central Mexico, where it has been produced for millennia. It has the color of milk, somewhat viscous consistency and a sour yeast-like taste. After being thoroughly cleaned and washed, they are toasted on a comal clay pan and they are prepared with garlic, lime juice and salt containing extract of agave worms, lending a sour spicy salty taste to the finished product. Sometimes the grasshoppers are also toasted with chili, although it can be used to cover up for chapulines.
