The annual Purina Animal Hall of Fame

TORONTO - MAY 4 - Fawn Adolph and her son Joseph Phillips-Garcia, with the framed portrait of Sako, a 4-year-old King Shepherd. On a family outing with an aunt and cousin, Sako and Joseph were thrown from a vehicle accident. Sadly, the others perished, but Joseph, badly hurt with a broken femur and collarbone. Sako remained and protected his injured owner over the next 40 hours by providing warmth, fetching wood for a fire and helping to drag Joseph to a creek to find water. The annual Purina Animal Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held on May 4, 2015. This year, three pets and one service dog, were inducted for their heroic, or life saving, actions.
