SHARJAH, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: A general view of the wreckage of an Iranian passenger airplane which crashed in the Gulf emirate of Sharjah 10 February 2004. Forty-three people died and three survived with critical injuries when an Iranian aircraft, a twin-turboprop Dutch-built Fokker 50, crashed in Sharjah, local police chief Saleh Ali al-Mutawa told AFP. "This morning a Fokker 50 aircraft of Kish Air left the airport of (the Iranian island of) Kish for Sharjah. Near the airport (of Sharjah) it asked to make an emergency landing, veered to the left and crashed," an official Iranian civil aviation authority statement said.
