HONDURAS-HURRICANE MITCH 2

Local residents brave the waves battering the northern Honduran harbor of La Ceiba 27 October as powerful thunderstorms triggered by the passage of Hurricane Mitch off the coast of Honduras, continue to drench the country's northermost region. More than 3,500 people have been evacuated from this area while at least one person was killed on the nearby island of Guanaja. The hurricane, a maximum category five storm on the Saffir/Simpson scale, is reportedly moving west at nine kilometers per hour.
