In Studio 1A, Karger notes he is blown away that"Dreamgirls" didn't get best picture or best director. He notes Jack Nicholson was left out and Mark Wahlberg got a nomination from"The Departed", for what is probably a better performance. He notes he thought Leonardo DiCaprio would get a nomination for"The Departed" but he got it for"Blood Diamond" with Djimon Hounsou. He notes"Little Miss Sunshine" didn't do great but it did get best picture and acting nominations, with Abigail Breslin tying with Tatum O'Neal for youngest actor nominated at 10-years-old. Actress nominated for"The Queen" Helen Mirren joins them over the phone. She notes it's wonderful for the film. She notes people are responding to what is the true character of the Queen of England and she trying to reflect that as truthfully as she can. She notes it's a beautifully written film. She notes her last nomination was for the housekeeper in"Gosford Park." She notes she ever thought this would happen to her, its taken her by surprise. In the green room, the now Oscar nominated actor for"The Last King of Scotland" Forest Whitaker notes he is still trying to absorb it. He notes he's really happy for himself and the film and will probably be celebrating all day. Vieira signs off from commercials. People cheer for Whitaker as he walks through the corridor.
