Photographed El Valle de Anton, Panama. this rare frog feeds on other frogs. It has an interesting reproductive strategy in which the female carries fertilized eggs on her back for several months. The eggs undergo direct development and hatch into juvenile frogs. there is anatomic evidence that the female's skin provides nutrients to the developing embryos before hatching.
