LAKE BISTINEAU STATE PARK--About an hour east of Shreveport, Lake Bistineau is popular for bass fishing and camping. It is in the northeastern corner of Louisiana's 4th Congressional District, represented by Jim McCrery, R-La. The 17,280 acre lake is shallow, with flooded cypress, islands, sloughs, hydrilla, and coontail moss. The lake was formed 1800 when a large log jam formed in the Red River.
