The Everest Trail

Jumbesi Secondary School was built in 1963 with funds from Sir Edmund Hillary's "Himalayan Trust". About 40 other schools in the Solu Khumbu Everest region have been built by this foundation. Today, it is located in insurgent Maoist territory. Over 200 children from around the area attend the school, and some have a day's walk between their homes to attend.
