Filipino Communist Rebels Exchange Wedding Vows Amidst A Peace Process

According to recent reports, the Philippine government and communist rebels made agreements on a joint interim ceasefire agreement in the Netherlands despite delays as President Rodrigo Duterte insisted the government peace panel lay out conditions, including non-recognition of any territorial claims of the rebel group, a halt to extortion or collection of revolutionary taxes, and the release of all prisoners held by the rebels, before making the agreement. The anniversary comes at a time of unprecedented changes inside the Communist Party of the Philippines after a younger Central Committee had been elected to lead the Party program with hopes to forge a bilateral ceasefire.
