German Women Producing Coal Substitute

(Original Caption) The blockade of Berlin has made Germans do dome thinking for themselves. They've come up with a new product, Ersatz coal, which provides six times as much heat as the real thing. Made of sawdust, coal dust, and a tar-like substance, the innovation costs 15 cents on the market. About 30,000 are produced daily as Germans allay some of the expense and danger of "Operation Vittles."
