The various contraptions, on display at the Lewyt Museum of Household Cleaning Implements, range in appearance from something that looks like a house-broken jackhammer to a medieval torture device. Operating by pulley-turn wheels and bellow power, the complicated cleaning devices offer proof positive that today's housewife is so much luckier than her grandma who had to maneuver these antique monsters around the house.
