Congressman Says Transit Actions Must Not Be Window Dressing

Florida Congressman John Mica asks Acting Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration Carolyn Flowers about funding and personnel at her agency, saying that the administration should report to the committee quarterly about its progress. Mica tells DC metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld that Federal contributions are higher than for other regional transit agencies. Mica argues that unspent funds are available to the WMATA, asking him about progress against dangers in the system, and introducing a new certificate of appreciation he intends to give to Wiedefeld for actually firing employees since a committee hearing months earlier, thanking him for stacking up to the plate and doing his job responsibly.
