'James Smith and Sons', one of London's famous stores, continues to serve for 200 years

LONDON, UK - MARCH 31: James Smith and Sons, one of the oldest and most famous umbrella stores in Europe, has been serving its customers for nearly 200 years in its historic Victorian building in the British capital London. Specially designed unique products are sold in the historical store, where many well-known politicians such as former British Prime Ministers William Ewart Gladstone (1809-1898) and Andrew Bonar Law (1858-1923) and former British Foreign Minister George Curzon (1859-1925) bought their umbrellas. The store serving as a family business for five generations offers handmade walking sticks and umbrellas, as well as mass-produced products for every budget. The store, which started production with a small workshop, has a workshop where 15 people work today. Phil Naisbitt, the manager of the historical store, told the establishment process of the store, the interest of the customers and the story of the umbrellas and walking sticks produced with different materials and craftsmanship. Naisbitt said the brand, which has been producing umbrellas and walking sticks since the 1830s, has become an iconic part of London, adding that, the interior and exterior design of the historic store, which has been in service for nearly 200 years in London, has remained almost the same. He said in addition to special designs, they also produce quality and inexpensive products for every budget. (Footage by Bilal Acar/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
