ROME, ITALY - APRIL 21: A mural artist in Rome drew picture of Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli on a wall behind the headquarters of Italian Football Association (FIGC) in protest against the forming of European Super League. Mural painting shows Agnelli as he stabs a knife on the ball. Agnelli is among the 12 presidents of football clubs that launched the European Super League. Speaking to the Italian media, the artist known as Laika Mcmliv said: “This is a league which only invited rich clubs. This is the death of football.” Plans for a breakaway European Super League seem on the verge of collapse just days after being announced, as Spain's Atletico Madrid and Italy's Inter Milan on Wednesday became the latest clubs to quit the troubled new venture. Eight of its 12 founding football clubs – Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid – have already officially left the nascent European Super League. On Sunday, 12 of Europe's top English, Italian, and Spanish teams announced they had decided to establish a European Super League. - Both FIFA and UEFA oppose breakaway European Super League FIFA on Monday said that it stands against the newly founded European Super League and football's governing bodies have to impose sanctions on this project. "Against this background, FIFA can only express its disapproval to a 'closed European breakaway league' outside of the international football structures and not respecting the aforementioned principles," FIFA said in a statement. In a joint statement, UEFA and three of major European leagues, English Premier League, Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, along with their federations, warned over the "so-called Super League" and said they would stick together and take all measures "to stop this cynical project."
