Nick Clegg visits Job Centre in Poplar; Nick Clegg interview SOT- (re Youth Contract' scheme) -youth contract goes live today/ If you're between 18-24, Job Centre Plus will be able to offer you work experience, apprenticeship - or new subsidised jobs/ everybody who wants to either earn or learn who is out of work and between the ages of 18 and 24 will, as of today, have the opporunity to do so- what we're saying to employers is loo, if you are kind of wondering if you're going to take the plunge to take on a young person and employ them, we will help you to take that decision by employing them ourselves - we hope that will tip the employer in favour of the young person/ hope employers will keep young people on beyond the six months of the subsidy- need growth of jobs in private sector/ 200,000 more jobs in priovate sector than there were a year ago/ partnership between business and government to create jobs that last for young people/ million young people out of work - figure is far too high/ youth unemployment one of the biggest challenges we face- (re government plans to monitor emails and internet usage) I am totally opposed to the idea of governments reading people's emails or creating a new central government database - but we're not doing any of that/ we're just updating rules that currently apply to mobile telephone calls and applying them to thinks like Skype- (re possible petrol tanker drivers' strike) there is no threat of any strike over Easter/ hope talks will lead to a resolution/ no need for people to rush out and fill up their tanks with fuel right nowNick Clegg and Chris Grayling stand chatting with Job Centre staff then leave office
